ABOUT PAUL

Paul Barnett is an award winning and exceptionally experienced Television Producer & Director, specialising in Documentaries, Specialist Factual and Factual Entertainment formats.

Beginning his early career making animated short films, Paul founded 3D Films in 1996 –  one of the first independent 3D Animation Production Companies in the UK, creating cutting edge computer generated imagery for clients over the world.

In 2002 he directed his first TV series for the BBC, ‘Wrong Car, Right Car’ and has since gone on to produce and direct on numerous BAFTA winning primetime series for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

As well as having a strong passion for crafting stunning visuals, Paul is also a master of all things editorial – he has an intuitive talent for writing strong, compelling narratives as well as developing and overseeing fresh programme formats.

With over 15 years experience of producing countless documentaries and factual entertainment series, Paul is well versed at producing on-screen talent on all levels and from all walks of life. He’s worked with both first-time presenters and household names including Robson Green, Maureen Lipman, Larry Lamb, Shobna Gulati, Jon Culshaw, Jonathon Ross, Brian Blessed, Sir Richard Branson and Richard Wilson.

Paul has overseen productions both large and small, from directing ambitious dramatic reconstructions with dozens of extras to filming sensitive observational documentaries single handed.

More recently, Paul has acted as Series and Executive Producer, overseeing several ambitious projects for the BBC and ITV, one of which recently won an RTS award for Best Factual Entertainment Series.

Being a huge fan of innovation, Paul revels in combining traditional film making with state of the art technology. From CGI to Virtual Reality, Paul recognises the importance of pushing the boundaries of television to create fresh, bold and visually compelling films.
